Lady Death Demonicron Demo Guide

A free Steam slice, not the 15-level campaign.

Steam Demo Guide

The free Steam demo opened on 15 June 2026, timed for Steam Next Fest after developer kernowbill confirmed an early/mid-June drop on the community hub. It is the honest way to test Lady Death Demonicron before digital launch on 31 August 2026. It is not a vertical slice of all 15 levels, all six sword states, or the full co-op fantasy. This page tells you what to judge and what to ignore.

How to get it

Open the Steam store page for Lady Death Demonicron (app 2954890) and install the demo listed beside it (Steam also lists demo app 4825700). You do not need a pre-order. Backers received earlier private builds; the June demo is public.

Use a controller. Official posts for the 2025 backer Level 1 demo said there were no keyboard controls. Steam still flags gamepad recommended. Read controls before you declare the game unplayable because a laptop trackpad was involved.

What the demo is for

  • Feel of the walk cycle and jump kick.
  • Whether you enjoy comic gore and the industrial-metal soundtrack.
  • Whether motion inputs click for you.
  • One or two stage chunks, usually the cemetery/prison-gate opening Billy Deakin recorded.

It is not for judging final enemy density, Switch performance, or the entire walkthrough. Art of Play has said AI, air combat, and grapples were still landing after Comic-Con builds. A 13-minute first-impression video can be true about that build and wrong about 31 August.

Known demo friction

Hands-on videos and Steam comments repeat the same list:

  • No tutorial. The combat card arrives as a PDF or a booklet, not as on-screen prompts.
  • Grounded enemies need jump kicks.
  • Specials need the blue meter and D-pad motions.
  • Some players call animations stiff; others call the art the point.
  • Audio options were thin in at least one June capture.
  • A Steam thread asked for grabs like Final Fight; grapples were still missing in early public playthroughs.

If those issues ruin the demo for you, read demo versus full game before you refund a pre-order in your head. If you like the bones, stay and learn two Overkills from combat.

Scoring and ranks

Demo players joked about horrible end-of-level grades. Treat grades as a teaching tool, not a review score. Overkills, remaining lives, and hit counts feed that screen. A low grade with full health usually means you mashed instead of spending meter.

Co-op in the demo

Confirm on your build whether split-screen is enabled. Marketing has always sold local co-op with Ravenheart. Some slices were Lady Death only. If a second pad does nothing, you are in a solo slice, not a broken Steam install.

Cheats

Retail cheats were announced for the first full release, not as a demo menu. Do not hunt infinite health in June’s build. The list lives on the codes hub.

After you finish the slice

  1. If you bounced off inputs, give controls one honest night.
  2. If you bounced off content volume, that is expected — wait for 15 levels.
  3. If you want the sheet, soundtrack, or art book, compare editions.
  4. If Steam runs poorly, check system requirements. Minimums are modest (i3-2100, 4 GB RAM, 5 GB disk).

Wishlist the full game on Steam if you want the 31 August unlock ping. PlayStation and Xbox keys email the same day. Switch waits until 11 September 2026. Physical boxes ship from November 2026.

This wiki will update the demo page if Art of Play replaces the June build. Until then, judge the demo as a combat exam, not as the whole hunt through hell.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for launch week, the Steam demo, and co-op nights.

Is the Lady Death Demonicron demo free?

Yes. It opened to everyone on Steam on 15 June 2026. You do not need a Kickstarter pledge.

Does the demo include all 15 levels?

No. Public playthroughs show the opening gate stretch. The full campaign is a launch feature. See demo versus full.

Can I use cheat codes in the demo?

The studio listed cheats for the first full release. Do not expect the retail sheet in the June demo. Check codes at launch.

Should a bad demo grade put me off buying?

A low grade usually means you skipped Overkills. Learn the combat layer before you decide.
